RTA competes for the association’s annual Outstanding Public Transportation System award in the largest of four size categories - agencies that provide more than 30 million annual rides. Millar, who grew up in Euclid, has kept track of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority over the years. “It’s really great to see the strides that have been made,” transportation association President William Millar said. Members of the Washington, D.C.-based association based their decision on data from 2004 to 2006, including everything from ridership increases to safety statistics, customer satisfaction and financial management. Published: Plain Dealer, Thursday, September 28, 2007Ĭleveland RTA is the best large transit system in North America, according to the American Public Transportation Association. Maybe they knew it was a once in century thing. In all of North America we have the best public Transportation system? The Browns can’t even get to the Super Bowl, the Indians have not won a championship since 1948 but the Cleveland RTA is the best large transit system in North America? If Cleveland is the best who is the worst India? What is even funnier is that those signs they plastered everywhere proclaiming to be the BEST in 07 were still around in 08 and 09 before being replaced. I find it very funny that RTA won this award back in 2007. ![]()
